Aiming for the best

The Mysore Race Club provides excellent facilities for both the professionals and the racing patrons. The club is in the process of building about 800 new stables. Already a significant number of new stables have been put to use. The spacious stables have been praised by the professionals for excellent design and ventilation.

The punters being the backbone of racing have been provided with the best possible amenities. There has been a significant raise in public patronage of totalisator pools. To facilitate betting on club operated pools, the club has provided substantial number of counters so much so that the turnover is showing a healthy up tick.

Excellent canteen facility is the highlight of a visit Mysore race course simply because of the variety that is on offer to suit all tastes.. With a number of catering units operating in the club premises, punters are assured of healthy competition among these caterers which has resulted in good quality of food.

Facilities for members

There are 250 members. Members are elected to the club in the month of March each financial year against the vacancies created by the general body. The election to the membership of the Club is by secret ballot. Elections equal to the number of vacancies (as on 31st December of that financial year) will be conducted and candidates getting the highest votes will be elected as per the vacancies. The members of the club are provided a spruced up upper tier of the grand stand to watch live racing action. The century old stand has been refurbished. The Grand Stand has been tastefully renovated keeping in mind the heritage value of the structure. The Mysore Race Club also operates a club house within its vast premises. The club house, overlooking the imposing Chamundi Hills, provides excellent outing for members in the evening. The club house also has guest rooms which are well patronized. The club has been making efforts to spruce up the club in order to facilitate more people making use of the facility. The club house also has a multi-cuisine restaurant.

Facilities for professionals

With the increase in number of race days following the addition of two mini seasons on either side of the main season which runs from August through October, the facilities for trainers, jockeys and owners have been improved significantly. The jockeys' room has been renovated while the trainers and owners have been provided with a separate room to relax during races.

Race Track

The distance of grass track is about 2000 meters with a width of 30 meters in the back stretch and about 19 metres wide near the winning post. The straight is about 500 meters. There is an outer sand track which facilitates the horses for fast work and the inner reverse track & bund school is used for trotting. The Inner Sand Track has been widened to accommodate more number of Racehorses to use the track during morning track work. Additional pop ups have been installed to improve the Sprinkler Irrigation System so as to cover the entire width of the Racing Track. The Mysore Race track has stood the test of time and has proved its utility even in adverse monsoon conditions. The lush green race track has its own beauty and offers myriad challengers both to horses and the men who ride them.
